Up and atom we hit the road, waving goodbye to our crazy Italio friends. The train took us to Nice Airport where we picked up our brand new Peugeot 2008 – what a car fantastic, I even like the colour. We decided on no big motorways, this might have been a mistake 1st up leaving Nice, the traffic was horrendous as it took us about 1 hour to go 30km's and a wrong turn we ended up driving through the centre of Cannes – C'est la vie. Pascal was restless and hot – get me off this coast road he kept saying I’m over it. We re-programmed the GPS to get us away from the coast and the traffic lessoned and we headed inland to our random spot of Salernes a pottery town in the Var Region. Starving hungry we pulled off at a boulangerie for salmon quiche & a cafe – food here is much cheaper than NZ. Our treat was a night in Le Mas Des Olivers Chambre et Tables d’Hotes.
A stop at the Information centre and the woman in there had spent a year in Gisborne and time in Ruatoria to our surprise – she wanted to stay there FOREVER!! We planned our drive the next day with her a wander through the lavender fields on our way to our French hosts in Miramas.
