Ohlala I see I see the fields of Lavender and the smell is incredible. Rows and rows just as imagined only better as you get the scent, with the car windows down whizzing through the countryside each corner another vista to enjoy. We are on a French high – doing what we have dreamed of. The French hill town of Moustiers Saint Maries was a lovely stop after driving up through the Verdon where canoying and climbing is popular and around Lake Saint Croix. We drove through Puimoisson and onto Valensole the lavender fields intense through here. We came round a bend to find an Asian couple standing in the field with their car on its side the police where already there – mmm a great way to spoilt a day out by going too fast on the tight windy roads – kiwi's are use to this!!! We wandered through the countryside its amazing out the view can change dramatically within 10km's. We stopped at Winery where they had amazing brass sculptures. Buying wine in boxes is quite normal direct and a cheap option - we had to talk Pascal into only a bottle, he wanted a 5 litre box, he came round in the end but choosing that bottle took awhile. We avoided the main highways and toll roads so our GPS tooks us through many back roads to Miramas. The most short, sharp and forceful storm, fork lightening, wind, hail, all the cars on the road stopped, no one could see, they all put on hazzards lights etc then as quickly as it came it went and the sky was blue!! We did still get LOST - we found our way eventually to our hosts Carol & Eric, they french family that we will be staying with for 10 days, A base for us to explore Provence, get our bikes and get ready for the two wheeled adventure. Our arrival was not the best - that sinking feeling once again of mmmm have we made a bad choice??? - Oh well we have a bed for the night and things always seem better in the morning.
