We woke to thunderstorms and rain after a good nights sleep. A very slow start was planned today as only a 30km ride. Check out wasnt until 11am so lots of time to watch the rain and listen to the thunder. The lower level of the Chateau was flooded so the family was in a panice trying to dry up the water. We left before 11am as the weather looked like it was breaking and hit the local boulangerie for a cheap breakfast, then off we went in the drizzle. It was actually quite refreshing as it had been so hot the previous day I felt quite energised by the rain. Pascal sat up in front leading the way as usual not minding the rain at all. Our 30km ride turned out to be 40kms, we had missed calculated!! It was a very scenice part of the trip and would have been amazing on a sunny day. We arrived into Moissac at 1.45 not a bad effort for a mad 40km dash with a few rest stops. Our hotel was right on the canal and had bike storage, oh my legs were sore, not to mention the butt!! Starving hungry, dump, change and eating was on the agenda. We wandered to the historic centre and decided on a place, both just wanting the menu of the day, not really knowing what we were getting, turned out amazing duck salad with jambon, fantastic flavours and loads of lettuce. Dessert was unusual peach and fluffly merigue type dish. We were tired and went back to the hotel and fellminto amreally deep sleep form1.5 hours, great as we have had so many bad night sleeps. Another wander around town after waking, the rain had gone and the light for photography was amazing for had fun taking some lovely photos. I really like this town its really old, low key and has great old buildings quite different to what we have seen along our route. Another big day tomorrow, could be 70kms and thatnwill be the end of the Canal Garonne in Toulouse the pink city. This is where the two canals meet and we hook onto the Canal du midi which will take us all the way to the med.
