Off we go full of excitement to cycle the Coast of Normandy from Veules Les Roses to Le Harve and back, mostly on the cycle route of Littoral. Our 1st day was fantastic, sunny, cold but not wind and blue skies, the feeling of freedom coming back along with the memories of cycling across France in 2014. The ride was stunning, the contrast of colours, the small villages, each with original style churches and the arrival into Fecamp spectacular. We managed 53km's feeling great and excited for what the next day would have in store. Our new panniers were proving to be fantastic, easy on off clipping system - awesome. We discovered these are 1/2 the price of home exactly the same brand and product!!!
We stayed in a rented room through Air BNB, it was a young guy who had bought an ex dentists studio and turned it into his apartment, it was brand new & very clean. His english was limited so our pigeon french came in useful. Our room was a raised area shut off by curtains with a spa pool and romantic coloured disco lighting - hilarious, but it was cheap, clean and safe. Our bikes locked up in the entrance way so we were happy. We headed off to enjoy a drink along the promenade and watch the sunset.
After wandering past all the restaurants we decided on a salad tonight and headed inside to the restaurant as the temperature was dropping. Great salad, home to bed.
We woke early and were excited to get pedaling again, today we found was not to be as easy, with the wind, it was colder and grey skies, also not as scenic as the day before. We passed through Etretat, WOW beautiful cliffs and rock formations, it was freezing and grey. We still enjoyed are journey and arrived into the port of Le Harve after 65km's not quite as fresh as the day before, the butts a little sore however better than what we thought. We didn't have any accommodation organised - a cheap hotel with a shower and a bed is all we needed and we found one in a fantastic location, bikes locked again in a secure entrance. France is so bike friendly. 35 Euros saw us safe, warm and happy for the night.
Le Harve is a beautiful city, it has a wonderful promenade along the sea front, large city square, we even found someone with their tent up for the night - mmmm not sure I am that game to sleep there, it wasn't a homeless person you could tell by the quality of the tent. We cycled around the city the next morning on our way the train station. We found a quirky bookstore to have an espresso while waiting for the train. One thing I really enjoy about France is the quirkiness that seems to appear out of nowhere. We jumped on the train to Yvetot, then had 38km's to cycle back to the village of our friends - Vueles Les Roses. The ride home was tough, mostly downhill but freezing, the cold wind biting at our lips & faces, Rod was the hero leading the way so I could have an easier time tucked in behind him. Once we were home we felt ecstatic - WE ARE READY!!!!

Maxelyn Tudman Our WC leaves on 16th May, and we go to Le Havre, but are going on a tour of the Normandy Landing area. Sounds like you are having a great time as usual on your trip.
Simonne Liley Was this a trial run for your big cycle Jax?
