Woke to the rain this morning and so no need to get out of bed! We all read for a while and only breakfast got us out of bed! Our German neighbours popped over and offered to make us dinner if they could share our campfire and we very quickly said yes! We spent the morning doing school, had an early lunch and then set off in the car to explore. This time we headed inland and drove to the next town of Heywood - quite pretty but nothing really there so we took a different road home and did a huge loop around the forest where we are staying. We passed another free camp on the way called Fitzroy River Reserve which looked lovely nestled along the banks of the river but costs $5 a night so our camp is better. We went back into Portland and refilled the water containers then walked along the foreshore and along the jetty. We had afternoon tea on the high street and then burnt off the cakes and ice cream in the park. Once we got back to camp Nick lit the fire to warm the plate and I got on the phone as I have been offered some work by my former employers - very hard to say no to as we still haven't rented out our house!! Our neighbours, George and Doris (English translation!) came over with a massive saucepan full of beef burgers and we started to make dinner. We provided some roast veggies and garlic bread and Doris had also made a mustard based cream sauce to pour over the burgers - very tasty. Katharine ate about 6 beef burgers - and then farted all night!!! Doris wanted to see the koala so we left the men behind and went off in search but couldn't see him tonight. By the time we got back Nick was cooking bananas and chocolate in the fire and we finished off with marshmallows. Luckily the kids ran off to burn off all the sugar and we sat around the fire until the sun went down. Once it got dark it was time for showers and bed and all four of them went out like a light!
