Everyone slept in until about 830am and by the time we got up there was plenty of movement in the camp so we were able to start the day with a coffee. Breakfast seemed to take forever and then we got stuck into some serious schoolwork as everyone had missed out on maths over the last few days. We ran the generator for most of the morning as the camp was empty again and the day was too overcast for the solar panels to be very effective. Nick lit the fire and we had toasted sandwiches in the jaffle iron for lunch. We spent the afternoon checking out Narrawong but there wasn't much there, so we drove to a strawberry farm to pick our own strawberries. Unfortunately we were unable to pick our own so we bought a punnet ready picked instead. We headed down to the jetty in Portland as yesterday there had been a seal sitting on it but unfortunately he wasn't there today so we called in for groceries and headed back to the van. The kids lost the plot in the back of the car on the way home and the boys couldn't spell any of the words they had practiced this morning so Nick decided they were all doing more schoolwork when we got back - not quite sure who that was punishing, them or us?? We went for a walk before we got the books out and spotted the koala again, then got down to more spelling and maths. We had only just started when a German neighbour came over for a chat and occupied Nick. Before you knew it the kids had shot off, schoolwork forgotten, and were playing on the other side of the camp - they're not so stupid afterall! We had burgers in a bun and chips cooked on the fire pit plate for dinner followed by the strawberries - all divine. I think we are beginning to master cooking on the fire now. Our neighbour came back to get some travel advise from Nick and they spent the evening chatting around the fire while I sorted the kids out and got them into bed.
