The storm continued well into the night and it was raining again when we got up. So we decided to drive to Yanchep National Park which is North of Perth past zoo dialup. The weather brightened and the sun came out so we drove along the coast road past all the beautiful sandy beaches. By the time we arrived it was lunchtime and therefore hot in the sunshine. Yanchep is a large park with kangaroos and some koala bears. There is also a lake called Loch McNess but no Nessies appeared as the water was very low!
The Kangaroos were lazing under the trees to escape the heat while the koalas were lazing up in the branches of gum trees. There were also flocks of black cockatoos squawking and squealing at each other. They really are noisy!
After a beer in the air conditioned inn we decided to head back to avoid the rush hour traffic although it is not as bad as back home. No sooner had we got back when the lightning and thunder started again and for the next few hours the storm raged. Apparently storms are not unusual at this time of year but they never usually last this long. Tomorrow is supposed to be the last day of bad weather and then it is back to continuous sunny days. Hope the snow is not too bad over there!!

Dorothy & Bob Just a light dusting this morning when we got up and it's all gone now.
Jenny and Kim No snow but still very cold. However you bring us a warm glow with your news - sandy beaches, animals lazing in the sun- we can only dream of summer.
Carol Good planning - a trip away in January/February it is really awful here you would hate it June
Liz Bet there's been some good lightening to watch!
Roni How lovely to have warm weather even if it is accompanied by storms. Most of the snow has gone (Fri) but the wind is bitter. Nice to read your diary entries.
