We decided not to go to Rottnest today as the weather was rather overcast again. We drove to Kings Park and walked around there. Kings Park is situated on Mount Eliza scarp and looks over the city of Perth and the Swan River. The views are fantastic and on a sunny day show the Swan River in all its glory. The Botanical Gardens display a variety of Australian flora and fauna from different areas of Western Australia. There was a new part that had been developed since our last visit and this was called Synergy Park. It was great for kids but they had gone back to school today so we had fun. There were models of prehistoric creatures and I found the crocodile. As you can see from the photo I managed to tame it - need to buy the hat now!
The plan was to then drive along the coast road and stop at some of the beaches but the weather deteriorated quickly and as we returned to the car the lightning and thunder started. So change of plan and we went back driving through torrential rain and some flooding! Think we will come home!!
By 5 o'clock the sun was out again but at 9 o'clock it was raining hard. At least it is warm still.
