It was a very stormy night with the thunder and lightning but not a lot of rain here. There are more storms forecast for the weekend and next week. Whoopee!!
When we left Perth this morning with Josh to get the train to Mandurah the skies looked very threatening and we could hear rumbling. But by the time we got there it was brilliant sunshine and a slight breeze.
Mandurah is South of Perth (see map) and is situated around a series of creeks on the River Peel. Years ago the Pinjarrah tribe lived there and the name Mandurah means 'meeting place'. Mick used to go there when he lived in Australia and catch prawns but it wasn't developed then. It is a popular town with tourists and has a lovely walk beside the water. Having got off the bus and walked a bit lo and behold there was Simmo's. How could we pass it by without investigating any new flavours. I had orange and mascarpone and it was delicious! Very tasty with bits of candied orange.
Fully refreshed we decided to take an hour long cruise around the waterways. The water was clear and calm and a beautiful green blue colour. Along the banks are enormous house belonging to millionaires each with their one jetty and some fantastic boats. A couple of the canals have bridges that have been copied from Venice and this area is called 'Little Venice'. On the way back the Dolphins accompanied us part of the way and there was a baby one next to it's mother. So cute.
As I can only add one photo to the blog I am making photo albums as well so do look in the photos section. It took me a while to work out how to do it as it is different on the iPad to the old Samsung! But have manages with perseverance.
Many thanks for all the comments. It is great to know that friends are following.

Jenny What a fantastic day. Scenery, wildlife, insight into 'how the other half live' and ICE-CREAM all in one place. Enjoyed the pictures. (Very clever) Certainly a lot of money invested in homes and boats.
