Where have those eight weeks gone? Already we are in March and only four weeks of our trip left.
We have had a quiet few days relaxing in Busselton with a trip to the town to have haircuts, a trip to Bunbury and a late afternoon swim at the beach.
Today we drove south to Pemberton which is the centre of the karri forest. It's a beautiful drive and there is virtually no traffic. We passed through Nannup and passed through Pemberton to visit the Gloucester Tree, named after the Duke of Gloucester. We visited this before 20 years ago but now there is a car park and trails to follow. The Gloucester Tree is a fire look-out and it 78 metres tall. There are steps all the way round to climb to the top where there is a viewing platform. The photo shows me setting off. But actually I didn't have the guts to climb it, it's a bit scary as the rungs are far apart and there is no side to it!
Pemberton itself is a very sleepy but attractive town and has many old, wooden houses built for the timber mill workers.
On the way back we took the old road for part of the way. Like all the old roads it was gravel and very dusty. Along here we stopped at the Bicentennial Tree, another fire look-out that you can climb. We then drove round a single-track. one-way dirt road beside the Warren River that you can see a long way down.
Next we visited the Beedulup Falls but being summer there were no falls! We had a pleasant walk round here and over a very swingy suspension bridge. not sure whether it was moving on it's own or Mick was helping!
On the way back between Pemberton and Nannup not one car passed us on our side of the road and it's about 50 miles!
Tonight we are going out for dinner to friends of Maureen's.

Jenny and Kim I can see why you chickened out of going up the tree. It would have been a hundred times worse coming down! Why don't you extend your holiday and return in May when hopefully the weather should be getting better? You will have so many wonderful memories. Make the most of the time left and enjoy.
Liz Agree with Jenny about extending your stay! Although having said that the sun is shining and the temperature has risen a bit! I said the time would soon fly by, enjoy your last fe weeks, looking forward to seeing the Hong Kong pics, my mum,dad and sister lived out their during Jayne's early years!
