We left early this morning for an organised coach trip to The Blue Mountains. They are called the Blue Mountains because the eucalyptus trees give off a blue haze. First we stopped at a place called Leura a small town with lots of unusual shops some gift and some expensive clothes shops. It was freezing here. This morning we went to the Chinese Gardens about five minutes walk from Darling Harbour. It was beautifully set out with trees, paths, a couple of ponds with Koi carp in and several pagoda type buildings. This morning we bought a but ticket for the 'Hop on hop off' bus tours round and about the city. We did half of the city tour and then got on the tour bus to Bondi Beach. The sun was shining although it was very windy and not particularly warm. Bondi is of course a beautiful sandy beach and there are large waves for surfing. Today we caught the Captain Cook ferry from Darling Harbour to Taronga Zoo. The zoo is reputed to be one of the best and is situated on a hill. It is advised to start at the top and work your way down and there is a Cable car to get to the top. But, just our luck, the cable car was shut for renovation.
