Sunday 6 March
I'm awake well before 4am after a weird dream. Anxiety always eats me before I travel. About 6:20 I figure it's late enough and turn the light on. I want to get the sheets all washed before we leave. I get my stuff all packed and set about righting the room and the rest of the house. We organise the food and are leaving by 7:50. We collect Ashley from the university and make good time to the airport before 10am. You are only allowed in if you have a flight. We wait until the girls can check in and then go through security. It's tearful goodbyes. I can still see them through the glass until they leave on the van to the plane. We eat some lunch. The ppl ebb and flow as flights leave. Malcolm buys a few things to use the rest of the money up. Eventually we can check in and go through security. They are a little hesitant to let my bag through as it's 10kg, but do in the end. I rearrange my luggage and it fits into the tiny overhead storage this time. I'm not impressed my TSA approved, tiny, non pointy scissors get taken off me with no discussion allowed. Trust it to be a small 3rd world country that removes them from me. After a year of travelling around the world! Even at Nairobi it says blades can be less than 6cm. Mine would have been barely 2cm. Another girl gets hers taken too. At least they are consistent, if unfair and not following regulations! The plane isn't full and it's a short flight. Through security again and a few hours wait. At least we can lie down. I catch a tiny nap. At last we are off about 20 min late. I go straight to sleep, but wake later for dinner and drinks. Then rest fitfully.
