Tuesday 5 January
I don't sleep as long as I wish. We get up and have breakfast. There is a delicious array of fruits. There are ppl coming and going. Some for fabric and some hunting for jobs and some for more information on current jobs. We head to the nearby preschool. It's still early days and there are still kinks to work out. We go around opening the windows to cool the place down. There are only 5 children here today. Malcolm looks at a tap that's leaking bit he figures it's the faulty tap ware and not the connections. We put up posters on the walls, wash new dishes, wash and peal potatoes. We stop for chai but it turns out to be mostly just hot milk. We walk to another building that's been rented for another project to show it too some ppl to see if it would suit them to be caretakers. Lunch is very late and it's nearly three. Home made hot chips and fruit. We tidy and clean up after lunch and prepare to leave early. We all meet at the house and discuss periods and the program at the school. There are a few pad options to consider and to ask how the local woman go and what they use. They are a bit shy to say, but we get there. Hannah and the founder Lori discuss a few things and I rest a while. We go into town to look around and get money out for the projects. We decide to start on dinner and get a big stirfry going. It's a good dinner. Malcolm showers. I stay up and chat with Hannah and chase down a giant cockroach in Lori's room. We send it outside for the guard to squash. Bed is a welcome sight.
