Wednesday 27 January
It feels like sleep hates me. I does seems to be my life in summer though. We get up early and get ready to leave. We get petrol on the way. We need almost all of the time. The gate is opened for us at the dentist and we park. A black car swishes into place beside us and a group of Asian people get out. We wait in the car while Malcolm goes in. We drive to the markets and start looking through the large displays for clothes and shoes and accessories. We find a few nice things. There is a lovely dress I find but the straps are just a but short, so I end up leaving it. After the market we head to complete our chores along the one road. At the supermarket I find my most favourite chocolate that I only found the one time in a supermarket in Vienna, Austria. It's expensive but I'm so happy! We get stuck when we can't get the key to work to unlock the car. It's been increasingly been more difficult. After many minuets we do eventually get in. We stop at the pharmacy and mattress shop then head to the Maasai market. There are lots of beautiful things but everyone wants you to buy from them. A man comes to repay Hannah. Hannah arranges fabric to come for next week. We go to the electronics store next and try to get Loris iPhone fixed. It's not even a year old. On the way to lunch/dinner we are stopped at the police check point and again tried to fine us for something do to with the mattresses but it's not articulated and Hannah requested proof that there is something wrong. Eventually they let us go. So so frustrating. So many cars have issues but it seems white ppl are picked on. We get our lunch for chips my eye followed by chocolate and ice cream. We meet Hannah's acquaintance there and chat awhile. On the way home we stop by the petrol station to pump up the tire, and a store selling high end goods made by disabled ppl.
Lastly it's a drama filled police stop for apparent speeding. We ask to see the photo so we have to walk far down to the car they are waiting in. The photo looks very iffy as to positioning but we either pay the fine or have to take it to court. Sigh. Some things are so annoying here. We try and relax before bed. Grace the tailor comes and brings Hannah's dress and we discuss the other projects. The power goes out and we sit by battery light.
