Soongies' Great Adventure
Errands day in London. The morning was spent in Clapham where Kate had hair and beautician appointments. While that was all going on, Calvin wandered around Clapham High Street and ended up registering with a GP practice - just in case he needed it in the future. Much easier than trying to register with the practice that Kate tried yesterday! Once all that was sorted, we caught the tube to busy Oxford Circus. It was lunch time and you could tell - the streets were bustling with suits carrying takeaway meals from everywhere. We decided to duck into Wasabi - a place with ready-made packs of Japanese food - for lunch. Our trip to Oxford Circus was actually to go to see a podiatric surgeon on Harley Street. Kate had an appointment at 2 pm so we made it there with time to spare. The clinic was very nice and after a consult (very nice doctor), an X-ray and a discussion, we left with a diagnosis of Tailors' Bunion probably resulting from hyper mobile joints in the feet and a possible solution of surgery to fix it. In the meantime, he gave us a sheet of felt to pad the area around the bunion. Now it's a waiting game on travel insurance as to what happens next and decisions to be made around surgery versus travelling to the USA. After wandering around a little bit, we headed over to a camera store to try and get a report for the waterproof (now waterlogged!) camera that was fatally damaged in Iceland's Blue Lagoon. None of the normal camera stores really wanted to write a report for insurance purposes as they didn't have any technicians so we found a camera repairer, Sendeans, on St Anne's Close. The only issue was that the camera needed to go to another office and, as it was late in the afternoon, we wouldn't get there in time. We'll try for somewhere in Cheshire. Returning back home, we settled in until Vicki got back from work. She was slaving away in the kitchen preparing slow cooked whole chicken, Yorkshire puddings and steamed vegetables with gravy. Soooo good!

kentishclan Whoever cut your hair must be a naturally curly haired person... so straight hairer would EVER straighten your beautiful thick wavy locks Kate. You know I'd kill for your hair and I can't believe you cut it all off. Bummer about the bunion deal. How long is the recovery from surgery? You've probably earned some simple 'chill time' as you've done some serious mileage lately (and upped the # of countries visited tally big time) Maybe it's "a sign" that you should give USA a skip... what with Puttin's Puppet / Agent Orange / Trumpzilla trying to start WW3 with Korea. Did you have plans for Canada at all? Some pretty cool stuff that way (but as you know I have zero interest in America anyway, so wouldn't take much to convince me to skip it)
soongies Thanks Cory. You'll be pleased to know it'll grow back soon and you can envy it again by the time we're in Geraldton.Full recovery can take up to a year but hopefully would be able to start walking properly within a month to three months.BC in Canada was in the plans and maybe some of the cities on the east side. Looking forward to America though, if we get there!
