Soongies' Great Adventure
We had a delightful start to the day with Scotch eggs for breakfast (that we bought the previous day). Then it was time to say goodbye to Richard and Barnaby as Fiona, Calvin and Kate went off in the car to Oxford. It took about 3 hours to get there, just stopping once for a quick coffee. Our B & B in Oxford was very nice and we certainly got that English feeling when we stepped in. We then walked into town and wandered around for a bit, before meeting Andrew who had travelled in from London to catch up with us. As Andrew went to Oxford University he was able to give us a great local's perspective on Oxford. We had lunch at a yummy pie shop in the Covered Markets and then we wandered the streets, particularly looking at the grounds of the different colleges (Lincoln, Worcester, Trinity and Magdalen) and some of the many library buildings - apparently over 100 libraries making up the biggest library network in the U.K. There were plenty of students riding around on bikes and dressed up very smartly. We ducked in quickly to the Ashmolean Museum which was massive and would really need a day to get through all the exhibits. After a lot of walking we decided to stop for a juice at 'The Red Lion' pub before heading to dinner (and dessert) at a delicious French restaurant 'Cotê Brasserie'. It was then time to say goodbye to Andrew and time for us to slowly wander back to our B & B. Our feet were pretty tired so we relaxed by watching some TV and chatting.
