Soongies' Great Adventure
In the morning, Kate walked to the nearest GP practice (about a 5 minute walk away) to register as a patient just in case she needed X-rays of her foot. A temporary registration form was completed and then Fiona drove Kate and Calvin to Chester to see a podiatrist. The podiatrist wasn't all that helpful and thought Kate had a splinter in the foot where it was hurting and scraped some skin off - and potentially a 'skin plug' - also known as a corn. He seemed to be more of a podiatrist for the older generation. We had a quick bite (and a slurp of soup) in Chester with Fiona at a little cafe before she dropped us off at Chester Train Station. Trains in the U.K. are expensive. It was a fast journey of 2 hours but it did cost £83 each! First time on a Virgin Train for Calvin. We met Vicki just outside of Tooting Bec tube station on the way to her house. She had taken half the day off as she wasn't feeling very well so it was good timing! After catching up a bit, Kate spent a long time on the phone with a very belligerent receptionist at the GP practice from this morning. The receptionist wasn't keen on registering Kate with the NHS for various reasons even though, legally, Kate had the right to be registered there. We were pretty hungry by this stage so we headed out to the main street in Tooting Bec and bought some breakfast groceries and got Indian takeaway from Chatkhara on the corner. The Indian food was good but oily and spicy (particularly the chicken jalfrezy) and the garlic naan was extremely garlicky. Then we followed Vicki to her netball game in Clapham (her team, Vixens, won by a large margin). Vicki had had a bite of garlic naan and needed some chewing gum before her game! Back in Tooting Bec, we stopped by Sainsbury's and bought some deliciously sweet British strawberries for dessert.
