Hello
I thought i would do a little blog since Iain is out with his work mates playing 7 aside footi - he's going to playing for a local team now until we leave - has to get signed for them etc
Last night we went out with Nadine & Octtavio for joint birthday meals as it's Nadine's birthday tomorrow and they're away for the weekend too! We decided to go to Breakfast Creek Hotel as it's famous for having the best steaks ever (obviously not my choice!!) We got the bus there and the directions on my internet print out said get off at stop 15 anw walk 300m, however it didn't say in what direction - we headed in what we thought was the right direction and walked....and walked.... and walked some more....in high heels....until we couldn't walk any further as it was a 6 lane motorway intersection!!!! We has walked for about 30mins and were 20mins late for our table sitting and eventually afer our wait we flagged a cab who took us there and it was just around the back of the bus stop!! We walked in completely the wrong direction - doh!
The restaurant has a big fridge with about 15 different cuts of steaks on show and you choose your cut and how you want it cooked and watch it cook in the open kitchen. There was 1 vegi dish of Lasagne which i don't like and 1 fish dish of Baramundi so i went for that and we all tried Calamari (breaded squid rings!!!) for starters.
The service wasn't great as it took 20 mins for Nadine & Octtavio to get their wine and the bread rolls came after we had finished our starters and the our main courses came and Nadine & Octtavio's orders were completely wrong but everyone did say that the steaks were good so taht makes up for it and it's a great venue. No so sure about squid rings - too chewy and didn't lay well in my tummy! Another bizarre thing about Brisbane is all restaurants close at either 9 or 9:30 so at 9:30 (even on Fridays and Saturdays in the city!!) we got chucked out - we had only been there an hour!! But within the hotel there was really cool outside brick bar that had fantastic cocktails so we had a few there - it was a good night apart from getting lost and the dodgy service!
Tomorrow is our last day of work this week as we have Friday to get ready for going away early on Sat morning - i have booked my 1st hair cut over and have booked with Tony 7 Guy (a bit extravagant i know but i didn't want any dodgy bleaching and will prob only get 2 hair cuts in total in a whole year and Iain does get one every 3 weeks so it's only fair - he, he!!)
It's so muggy over here now and there's loads of bush fires and all me fruit is going off - had 7 mushy bananas in our drawer so tonight i just had to make banana and walnut muffins!( didn't want those bananas going to waste....!!)
Anyway i better going and try & wrap some of Iain's prezzies up before he gets home and test the muffins to make sure they are OK!
Love
Charlotte xx
