Hi Folks,
Well this is my first blog!!
As C said went to an agency on Wednesday and by 4 that afternoon got the job in the council and started the next day. Turned up to register in my brown linen trousers, flip flops with sock, smart shirt and this not so trendy rain jacket. For the first time I felt like a tramp/tourist.
I started to make myself feel better by thinking I was making a fashion statement and it would catch on in time!! Here's hoping!!!
The shops shut at 5 so only had time to buy shoes. So next day I had to make a brave decision and take up cross dressing by wearing C's black linen trousers. Oh yeah the same shirt from the day before what a first day to start. As BORAT would say " VERY NICE".
In the council I am working for Planning storage for internal drainage for residential and commercial properties. You got a leak Iain will fix it!!!. Those who work beside me will be reading this and saying " Theres no surprise there Sandy Crombie getting a job in the council next he will be running for Mayor". Watch this space Oz land!!!!!
As a new start you do silly things, panic on what bus to get as you think your on the wrong one, take the wrong lift that doesn't go to your floor and turn up in smart office gear on Friday as no one has told you it's casual dress day!! I cant believe all 3 happened to me!!!!
Oh yeah I am pointing at my office behind me the big tall one. I am on the 10th level!!!
Went out with them on Friday night to Union Jack pub some live bands playing. Was happy hour at 5.30 so at 5 bought a pint ($7) to tie me over as a girl told me the time it started. One of the guys then said Corona was $3 from 11 in the morning so as the tight arse I am I was so gutted at spending more for one drink.
Went to a cheap as chips vegitarian cafe at night for a $9 Indian buffet (eat as much as you can), only thing was it was a Harre Krsna venue, so lots of hippys, spiritul things and probably an illegal substance labelled as herbs to the eye but we know what they meant (only kidding). C loved it!!!
On Saturday went for a 6k run in the morning and shopping in the afternoon and no my six pack has not happened yet and my mullet hair cut is still being designed.
Have new housemates so now we have an english girl with an italian man, a Kiwi couple and an Irish couple. We had a barbie, few beers and watched to OZ V all blacks rugby so we are all becoming friends. Should be fun.
Today we went on another run 10k this time and then went to see the Scottish Annual highland event. Dancing, bagpipies, Singing. It was really cool as I went to this stall and the main tartan they had on display was the MacLEOD hunting. The bag pipe tunes raised the small number of hairs on my chest and it reminded my of home sweet home.
See you all soon
Iain
