Hello to all!
We have had quite a busy weekend this weekend. We got up early yesterday (Saturday) to catch a cruise from North Quay on Brisbane river to go to the Koala sanctuary. The lonely planet guide book said it left at 10am fron\m North Quay - the opposite side of the river to where we live so we left in plenty of time and got there at 9:50am. But there were no signs about the Koala centre at the pier just times for the city ferry cat service, Iain asked at the next ferry cat that docked and they said, "oh the cruise used to depart from here but it now departs from Southbank back across the river and she poited to the ship sitting across the river.
U have never seen us run 1km so fast - up a flight of stairs across a long bring, down stairs, and along the riverside - but hey we made it, all nice & sweaty too! We were determined not to miss the boat!
The cruise was lovely, went past the most amazing houses - all rich people that had designed them - all with own private jetty and boat mooring - very swish! We also went passed Indooroopilly Island where u could see loads of flying foxes (fruit bats) hanging upside down sleeping - looked like little sacks!!!!!
The koala csanctuary was lovely, they had a kindegarten section for young koalas, a retirement section for those over 12 years and a mother and baby unit!!
They are so cute and holding one was lovely, they only allow each koala to be handled for 30minutes every 2 weeks so that it doesn't distress them which is good!
The most amazing thing was this huge area of fields taht had wild kangaroos bouncing about everywhere, most wee tame and we bought kangaroo food and they fed from our hands - really amazing!
Finally we went to a snake talk and touched the snake, then decided to go the whole way and have a photo with one wrapped around our necks....!!! It felt so weird and when the keeper went to take it off, the snakes tail wrapped around my neck and was like aaaaahhhhh help...........
Iian got the feel for scary animals and u could make a special request to hold a baby crocodile and they special brought one down to the photo area so he held this little croc too!
We had to wait ages for the photos to be developed and our cruise left at 1:30 so again we had to make a mad dash to catch the boat back - i am not used to cutting things so fine, little Miss organised likes plenty of time to get to places - he, he, he!!
Last night we went to see Christina Aguiliera in concert and she put on a really good show - the venue held about 15,000 and we has pretty good seats at the side. Our flatmate Katrina loves her and new most of the songs but i only knew about 4 but it was a great atmosphere!
The warm up band were called lowrider and were really good, black r&b music, Iain sneaked out before Christina came on and got me a signed album of them for me!! Much better than a Christina t-shirt!!
Coming home was like sardines packed onto the train with every1 falling about everywhere - not good for my claustrophobia!!!
