Hi There,
This week and weekend has been our laziest so far.
On Friday night I went out with my work mates for a few happy hour drinks in the Union Jack pub. We had the Scotland corner booked out and I noticed my Kilt was on the wall so I was explaining this to all who would listen.
We also had a laugh at all the office pranks we have been pulling the last 12 weeks I have worked. Here is the list of "The Office" pranks
- Starts with a dare to use a certain word within your phone call to a customer. Like super dooper.
- Iain fills his work mate Matts pockets up with the cut of paper hole punches. He doesn't realise until he enters the lifts on the way home. Picture was priceless.
- Matt Wraps up Iain's computer, mouse, monitor etc in left over pink paper from C's present.
- Iain tampers with Matt's Mouse so the laser wouldn't work to move the arrow on the computer.
My latest office event has been a paper plane throwing contest which I won. Shows you how hard at work I am!!!!!!
C went on a shopping spree and met me later on to go for a bite to eat at Hare Krisna buffet restuarant.
On Saturday we tried to have a lie in but as we have been getting up early for the last month or so we seem to always wake up about 6. We cycled to town to try and sort out our American Express saga - the story so far.....................................................................we bought prepaid american express travellers cheques cards in the UK and put savings onto them every month in US dollars for when we go to America, but my mum got a letter to say they are discontinuing them by 31st Oct so you have to withdraw ur money from an ATM or buy stuff and f you don't ur money gets refunded in pounds to your home address within 12 weeks!!!!! Absolutely no use to us! We went into American Express over to see if we could ourchase Travellers cheques with the card but the card won't work at the American Express shop as none were issued in Oz - only Europe and US so she said we'd have to buy things in shops or withdraw at an ATM or try and phone American Express UK to see if they could transfer the money to our Oz account. We just want our money so went to try & withdraw it at about 8 ATM's (Amercan Express will charge us for withdrawing and a crency converter charge - cheek!!) but none of the ATM's accept American Express and neither do half the shops!! Going to kick up a fuss with UK Amer Exp tomorrow and hopefully they will transfer the money to our account without a charge at even though we will lose our good UK to US exchange rate at least we'll have the money! Such a con when we had to pay 20 pound in the 1st place to buy each card! Iain's wanting to write to a watchdog........
Last night we had the whole place to ourselves so made homemade pizza and watched Dukes of Hazards the movie ( i fell asleep as usual tho!)
This morning we got up at 5 to do the running club 10km and then decided we wanted to go back to bed so didn't go - we went out later to do our own run and wished we'd done the race as it was a celebratory 25yrs of the running club's existence so they gave away free stuff and a huge barbeque and food etc - looked like good fun too!!
Today was meant to be our sunbathing day to try and start our tan off but it was too cloudy so we planned our America trip and went for a cycle, Iain got his pint of Stella in this pub which cost nearly $10 and the live band stopped playing as soon as we sat down. Iain was determined to hear the band so sipped his pint until they came on again - just made roast tea and waiting on the apple pie cooking now - mmmmmmm.
Only 6 weeks left in Brisbane now and of work - doesn't time fly!! Just think we won't be working from end Oct til middle of June 2008 - wooohooo - 7.5 months!!!
First joint effort in a blog from Charlotte and Iain
