Hi All,
Well final blog until the weekend, I have a few things to mention before I let you know about our time at the ZOO.
- During our climbing at the Glass House Mountains there were no toilets. Charlotte badly needed so in true spirit of the mountain walkers she took a leek in the bushes as I watched for possible passers by. She said I could tell everyone this as I found it funny.
- In the morning after camping we found a cafe right on the sea front over looking Birbie Island. It was cold and breezy but we had to sit outside to take in the view. As you can see from the photo's we had some yummy breakfast.
We left breaky and headed to Steve Irwins Zoo and arrived about 9:30 in the morning. Crickey!!! We were up at 7 taking the tent down, had breaky and at the zoo at 9:30 on a Sunday. Were going mad!!!!!!
Anyway the rain hadn't started by this point so we headed in to see lots of animals.
We visited the Over active Otters, Dangerous Dingo's, Kinky Koala's, Slivery snakes, and some weird looking birds (Many would say I have had my fair share of them until I met my gorgeous darling wife).
We managed to get back in time to feed the elephants. We ended up feeding Siam. Siam loved melon and apple and I managed to take a quick picture of C before I went to feed Slavery Siam. Yes Slavery because his trunk soaked my hand with his gunk. Nice!!!!!
We headed of quickly to the wild life show where we were going to see how some of these amazing animals lived in our world. The show was more education but still had some amazing stunts that would capture the animals natural hunting ability.
First was the snakes and a guest from the audience was asked to participate. The guy looked a bit simple but C and I still can't work out if he was part of the entertainment.
He had snakes wrapped round him and then they talked about what you do when you get bitten by one. The guy was pretend bitten and asked to play dead, as he lay on the stretcher the staff through him in the water. His girlfriend didn't look pleased and nor did he when he pulled his mobile out his pocket soaking wet!!! Woops
Birds then flew round the stadium nearly taking my eyes out from parrots to little speedy things that scared me. I sat still and said nothing!! Yeah first time for everything I know and it only took some little bird to do it!!!!
The main event the croc show was next. And let me tell you that I ain't going swimming in any river on pond over here even if they say no crocs are here. They are huge, love meat and if they are hungry and you are on a stroll along the river minding your own business they will just take a bite.
The rain then started to C and I brought back out the trendy waterproofs, still not in fashion here in OZ but I was working on it with my waddle down the paths of the ZOO. I protected my bag from the rain under the coat so it made me look like I had a hunch back. I was really trying to be a ninja turtle and blend in with the animals but I dont think it worked as they let me out!!!
The rain was heavy so we managed to see some Kangaroos, The elephants bathing and the tigers playing.
If Jack can read this we seen Tigger the tiger in there and he says hello to you and tells you to take care of your sisters, dad and mum.
After that we decided it was time to head around 2:00 and jumped in the car to head back to Brisbane. We ended up stopping of for some Sushi in the Valley.
Trying to get there in the one way traffic is a nightmare. I love driving again especially outside the city but inside its a nightmare and one I would gladly pass on.
Anyway the sushi that we got had raw salmon and some other hot dishes with noodles. Charlotte with her consistent Ring attributes (clumsiness) spilled it on her jeans in the car. Lucky we were nearly home.
Since Sunday it has not stopped raining. C and I have still been cycling to work however last night C's bike got a flat tyre. This morning (Thursday) I gave her mine and I ran all the way my work and back in the rain. What a nice husband I am.
Now folks that should make up for the burnt sausages!!!! a couple of hours ago I managed to get the tyre fixed so we are back to business.
We still went our weekly shop tonight in the weather and have a look at C's photo its cool, as I sit here right now at the PC the storm is still building.
How long have I been away now and still no tan!!!!!!
Well folks this weekend is a quiet one. Have a special dinner booked for tomorrow night and a few other things planned. Keep reading and enjoy.
See ya later
Iain
