Woke around 8am as the camp seemed quite active this morning. There was a massive queue for the toilet until after 9am and the park ranger appeared at one point and fined a group for having a fire - $722!! We spent the morning doing schoolwork again as we probably wont do any tomorrow with it being a travel day. The kids did well despite all the distractions from fellow campers. We were going to head out and explore in the afternoon but it was difficult to get motivated today - the weather was hot and sticky and it was easier to hang around the camp and keep an eye on our gear with so many people around. So after lunch we got stuck into our books while the kids had some time in front of a movie. Around 3pm Nick took the boys and Anna to the beach while I prepared dinner and stayed with Katharine. Once we'd finished we went to find them but didn't stay too long as it was still too hot to sit on the beach and the current too dangerous to have a swim. Back at the camp all was fairly peaceful until a couple of dogs started growling and a neighbour then yelled snake - a huge Eastern Tiger snake had come slithering out of the bush and was headed towards a tent. A very brave lady pulled on her farm boots and pinned its head with a spade but couldn't quite kill it off. Two other gents with a stick and a spade had to help and eventually severed its head from its body. I think the poor lady was quite upset she'd killed it but the family who owned the tent were very grateful!! The kids missed the whole thing as they were inside the caravan - not a bad thing as otherwise they would be walking around with shovels over their shoulders!! We had dinner and then played Gubs outside while waiting for it to cool down, however the game was interrupted by a couple from Busselton who had noticed our license plates - by the time we'd finished chatting it was dark and time for bed.
