The training plan said '30 miles' for today. So...
.....we ran from the Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC Clubhouse at 10.40 and arrived back at 12.44. Did a quick change into club kit (swallowed a coffee, ate a sandwich) and slipped into the Club Photo (which only happens once every four years - in Olympic year). 10 mins later at 1.44 we headed out for the next 2 hour section while the rest of the club ran the club 5 mile x country handicap at 2.30. We returned to the club at 3.45 in time to join in the closing 5 tea and be presented with a charity cheque for £500 from our friend Ponti on behalf of the Master and Wardens of the Worshipful Company of Armourers & Brasiers (for which we are very very grateful). We then headed out the door again - leaving our club mates to finish their cakes and tea - to run the last 5 miles to complete the 30. We sped through the five to finish in an overall running time of 4.54.09. Did I mention that it was full sun and hot all day? We arrived back at the clubhouse just 40 mins before the AGM (Congratulations Steve Hollingdale - our new President) I think the real thing is going to be an awful lot easier!!!
JT said he would read this blog carefully and comment on anything I missed out - can't wait to see what he says...
One note that I would add was that we didn't really get much of a rest in our hour breaks and this did have an effect so we must be sure to get off our feet during these rest periods if at all possible.

JOHNNIE T. You did empty the contents of your thermos over the clubhouse floor....but it would be churlish to mention it ! Report just perfect.
