Day began well with JT collecting a generous donation from a lovely couple on the caravan site - Dewi and Iona. A very welcome start to the day.
Then, back at the start, we met an elderly couple who were interested to know our story and remembered meeting Dr Barbara Moore when she walked it in 23 days in 1960. It was her walk that kick started the modern End to End boom. A precious moment for us to touch a piece of history.
We started well, but within 5 miles the rolling hills of Devon kicked in and kept us company all day.
Greg had a lovely day out on his bike - we kept meeting him every time we were leaving the van. The picture is Greg suffering for his art - he wanted to take a photo from the field, but it involved hopping a barbed wire fence. Don't worry Debs he should be back to normal by the time you see him!
Tomo rang during our final run to finalise arrangements for piping us into our last County. We should enter Cornwall at about 3.00 tomorrow afternoon - to the sound of the bagpipes! Now that's a photo you'll be waiting to see.
Magic moment of the day... it's raining... a young man in a tipper truck slows down and asks if we'd like a lift. No thanks, we answered cheerfully, in unison, we've only got 120 miles to go! The expression on the mans face... absolutely priceless!
We are getting so close now - and our bodies are beginning to let us know. We are in high spirits but each day seems a little longer as it absorbs more effort. We know you've all given very generously but if you have friends, family, workmates etc that might be inspired by what we've done and would like to donate please ask them - we are so close to the £10,000 target and we are giving our all out here it would be great to hit it before we finish.
So to the facts. We finished today on 750 miles with 110 to go. So 11 miles in tomorrow we have less that 100. In 20 miles we leave Devon and enter our last County. We are so nearly there. It hardly seems possible.
