63km's today and it was a wonderful ride and I felt like I could easily have done another 20km's must be getting fitter, the hills are rolling and the villages and view are perfect for those wanting to wander through the peaceful french countryside with no pressure or stress of traffic. The Charente has many many Charente Velo routes already mapped and sign posted for you that you can just follow they are fantastic. Our route took us to Mansle where we had a wonderful lunch in a beautiful garden setting. We then carried on through St Groux, Bayers, Aunac, Mountonneau, Mouton and Licheres where there was a 12th century church that caught my eye. The Sunflowers are all bowing their heads and turning black but its still a sight to be seen - paddocks & paddocks of them everywhere you look. We had to have a beer stop on the way back - well deserved.
