Wow - stunning views of snow covered mountains around the campsite as we had our breakfast this morning! We went up the road to Glenorchy and the views were amazing all along the lakeshore. After a bit of a looksee around Glenorchy we headed up the road to the start of the Routeburn Track. Our plan was to walk to Lake Sylvan and have a picnic lunch there. What a beautiful walk through the bush and the reward after 40 plus minutes walking was fantastic. There was a DOC campsite at the start of the walk which would be very busy in the summer I'm guessing. We had a stop at Mrs Woolly's General Store in Glenorchy for a cuppa before heading back to our vans. The earlier snow had mostly melted by the time we got back.
