Day 20 - Sun 8 April -Timaru to Lake Wardell
There is snow forecast Tues and Wed for the mountain passes we have to go over so we have decided to get to Wanaka by Monday and hunker down there for a few days. Aileen came out for morning tea and after lunch we hooked up. We left Timaru about 1.40pm and had a great run inland and after a couple of photos stops at Tekapo and Pukaki made it to Lake Wardell. This is a little pond beside the Ohau Canal. We had about 12 rigs overnight, mostly people who were here for the fishing. However we didn't see any salmon being caught. It was a pleasant spot to stay the night with lots of lovely autumn colours.
