Day 92 - Tue 19 Jun - Ngongataha to Mount Maunganui

The road up to Tauranga was winding and very rough in places and we got in a queue behind a very slow vehicle - 45km up the hills with clouds of smoke from its exhaust. However by the time we stopped and had a cuppa the road was clear and we had a good run to Mount Maunganui RSA. Oh no - no room in the carpark as there was something on at the RSA. It was after 2pm before we got a space. Later on we had a look at a couple of motorhomes sales yards but didn't see anything that would suit us - and our price range! Tonight we had a meal at the RSA restaurant - roast of the day and very nice it was too.

Day 93 - Wed 20 Jun - Mount Maunganui

This morning we met up with one of Bruce's brothers for coffee not too far from where he's working. It was good to see him as it's been a while. After that we checked out the parking at the Tauranga RSA at Gate Pa but the access is not good for getting the caravan in off the main road because of our length. We'll just go somewhere else tomorrow night - we can only stay 2 nights at the Mount RSA. Tonight we drove out to Papamoa to have dinner at a friend's home. Wow - what a huge lot of new buildings since we were out this way. The traffic reflects the increase in the population too. There were 5 rigs parked up overnight - only supposed to be 2!
