Day 85 - Tue 12 Jun - Wellington to Marton
We had a wild night with wind and rain all night so not a peaceful night. We checked the forecast and it wasn't looking good so we decided to get over the hill to the Kapiti Coast via Hayward's Hill. It was still windy and we stopped at Plimmerton NZMCA Park. However after a break Bruce was keen to press on to Marton as it was still windy at Plimmerton and very muddy in places. We got blown about a bit going over the Himatangi Plains but not oo bad for the rest of the way to Marton. The NZMCA Park there is well set out and a very pretty , quiet spot. There were others here too as well as a toilet block available. We also noticed the kowhai is blossoming here too.
Day 86 - Wed 13 Jun - Marton
The rain has caught up with us today so it was a good day for blobbing - reading, muffin making etc. A time to recharge our batteries. There were 5 rigs here overnight but looks like just us tonight. The custodian came over for a chat when he came in on his rounds.
