Day 77 - Mon 4 Jun - Murchison Today was a catchup day for laundry. However it wasn't a very clean place - we had to sweep up the spilt soap powder before we got started on our loads. There was a bonus though - the little French Bakery was open today and had delicious pastries to have with our morning tea while the washing went through. The sign outside the shop said - "Open till sold out!" A few other rigs have come in but so has the light rain.

Day 76 - Sun 3 Jun - Hanmer Springs to Murchison The trip today was 167km up to Murchison (the longest stretch so far) so we were probably the first away his morning. We had a clear day for travelling and it was lovely to have views of the beech forest and snow-capped mountains. There was snow alongside the highway at Lewis Pass Summit and the grit trucks had kept the road surface clear. There was very little traffic on the road so good for Bruce - he hates ...
