Day 36 - Tue 24 April - Mossburn to Te Anau
During the night we had to move the caravan beside the barn to get shelter from the strong winds but it wasn't too bad by the morning. We just had a short journey this morning into Te Anau. We stopped at the Wilderness Reserve on our way. The NZMCA Park in Te Anau is close to a café popular with busloads of tourists at certain times of the day. They seem to like taking selfies with the alpacas. It was quiet though when we popped in for some lunch before finding the Fresh Choice supermarket and the local butcher. A 5th wheeler was leaving as we arrived at the Park - they had also been at the Cromwell Park. It's a great parking spot here - not too far from the town - we even have a glimpse of the Lake and a view of the mountains. Thank goodness Te Anau isn't as busy as Queenstown!
Day 37 - Wed 25 April - Te Anau
It's ANZAC Day today but we didn't join the locals for their town parade - we did wear our poppies though as remembrance. It was quiet around the town so we took the opportunity to make use of the 24/7 Laundromat. Because it was fine and windy we didn't need to use the driers; there are good clotheslines back at the Park. Unfortunately the pharmacy was closed for the whole day so Ros couldn't pick up her prescription. However it was a good day to update the blog and sort out the photos from our cameras and phones. Big job!
Day 38 - Thu 26 April - Te Anau
Ros had a haircut booked for today so we went downtown for that - it's always a leap of faith letting a different hairdresser loose on your hair. However it was OK and is so short it will last a good while. When we checked at the pharmacy for Ros' prescription they hadn't got the fax yet. It meant a phone call back to Ngatea Medical Centre to find out what was going on - turns out it hadn't been faxed. It was waiting for me to pick up! However all's well that ends well - the medication was ready later in the afternoon. Thank goodness - one of the joys of being on the road for a while.
