Day 43 - Tue 01 May - Clifden to Riverton
Just as we were ready to leave this morning a flock of lambs came down the road. A couple of tourist vans stopped to video them. The sheep were all over the place as they weren't used to being on the road. It was very windy as we got closer to the coast and after our lunch stop at Monkey Island we drove on. Colac Bay was sheltered but too boggy so we went to Riverton and parked behind the RSA. However we couldn't get the caravan door open as an umbrella spike had jammed under the inside door handle preventing it from opening. So it was hitch up and tow the van to the nearest garage to see if they had the tools to spring the door. Eventually the door was wedged open far enough to get a wire in to move the umbrella. Man - that umbrella nearly hit the rubbish bin! Whew!
Another van parked overnight too and we found Bruce had come across Russell when he was a rural adviser many years ago. Small world! We got hold of Cheryl so will visit her tomorrow afternoon. We have to go into Invercargill in the morning as Ros discovered a diamond missing from her engagement ring when we stopped for lunch. Not our best day!!
