Day 41 - Sun 29 April - Henry Creek to Manapouri
There was fresh snow on the mountains this morning but none on the van this time. We decided to park the caravan at the Te Anau Park after we got to town. It was time to stock up on groceries again (we do this every 3-4 days as the fridge is small). Unfortunately we couldn't get meat from the same butcher as he was closed on Sundays. We had enjoyed what we got from him before. After that we had a short drive to Manapouri, getting there in time for lunch. We found the camping ground Bruce's cousin and wife own and booked in for the night. It was good to meet up with them as we hadn't seen them for many many years. The campground is very quaint and the birdlife is amazing - the birdsong is fantastic!
It was time to go for a drive down to Lake Monowai after lunch. It was misty on the lake making it quite moody. We walked through the bush out to a viewpoint down the lake. There was not a lot of traffic but the rain/low cloud was back on the hills as we went back to Manapouri. Several other motorhomes, campervans etc had arrived by the time we got back.
