Nick woke up early again around 7am and went off in search of the weekend papers. I read in bed until he got back and then we had a quick coffee before heading off for a walk along the beach, as it was such a lovely morning. There is a path from the caravan park, which crosses the road and leads you straight to the beach. When we got there it was pack as the Victorian Surf Life Saving State Championships were on. We watched a few of the races and all the kids decided quite quickly that they would like to join the LSL club when we get back to WA! We walked up to the mouth of the Barwon River and followed the river back to the caravan park - a fantastic walk and a great way to start the day. Once home we all had a big breakfast and then the kids ran off to play, Nick read the papers and I spent a few hours doing some paid work! To give the Busso family a break from the kids making themselves at home in their campervan, Nick took them shopping to get lunch and came back with all sorts of treats - never go shopping when you're hungry!! Eventually we went back to the beach for another swim thinking the crowds would have died down but it was still quite busy. It was also freezing! I decided to have a dip as the waves looked so good but as I was trying to get wet a life guard came up to say they were closing the beach as a storm was due to hit and it was full of lightening. We had just got back to the car when the first massive rain drops hit. Instead of hiding out in the caravan we decided to go for a drive and went back to Queenscliff and watched the storm roll in across the Rip - quite dramatic. We went back to the caravan thinking the worst was over but as we pulled up the heavens opened again and it chucked it down. We were looking as if the annex would remain dry until we noticed the roof bowing due to a swimming pool developing on it! Nick dropped one of the annex legs and the water poured off and ran straight inside. Luckily, it dried up quite quickly and didn't soak anything important. The rain meant everyone stayed indoors for the rest of the evening so the kids had showers and watched a movie while Nick made dinner. It seemed to take everyone forever to get to bed and even longer to get to sleep. Nick and I watched 'World War Z' - a good movie considering it's about zombies but a bit scary for a caravan park when you have to go to the toilet block in the middle of the night!!
