After leaving Nävekvarn we had 2 short days sailing stopping in some passage anchorages Risö being the first then Håsko both small islands where we had short walks. Sailors say if you sail the Baltic then you hit rock well today we did, we were creeping into a Shallow anchorage that could safely take yachts with 1.6 m draft ours is only 1.47 so no problem you would think but we bumped one going very slowly in the entrance to Armnö Needless to say we reversed out and went to nearby Håsko. We stopped the next night at Sparö island just 4 miles below Västervik we anchored in a small cove below a lighthouse and a very large tower. The tower predates all light houses and was built in the 1770s as a marker to help ships navigate. We climbed up a cliff to see the sunset from the top and met the guy who lives in the old lighthouse with what must be one of the best views for miles around. We had not intended to re visit Västervik this year but as we were upping anchor to leave we were hailed by a German guy on the next yacht. His gearbox had failed and he had no drive, there was almost no wind so would we tow him to Västervik. He was a big heavy steel yacht 15 tons, it took us 2 hours to get him along side safely. He was very great full and gave us 2 bottles of wine, as we were now there we decided to stay the night too.
