The plans have changed, we are now not sailing to Estonia, two reasons, there are gales and strong winds forecast for that area and our auto pilot has stopped working. The trip to Estonia is getting on for one hundred miles, the bad weather is going to be about for at least a week, with a weeks delay and the prospect of hand steering we have decided to just move up the Island, try and effect a repair on the pilot then head NE towards Stockholm.
Day 2
Today we have taken the bikes for a trip round the north of the island covering about 30 k including a 10 K off road section, very challenging on 20 inch wheel folding bikes. Lickershamn is a small fishing village surrounded by high cliffs and limestone columns. We think the pilot is fixed, good old WD 40 and some emery cloth, looks like just a bad connection. Let's hope so as landfall towards Stockholm is still 70 NM away, looking at a departure time of 0600, we could leave anytime after 02.00 as it starts to get light then, there is no wind forecast till about 0600 so 0600 it will be.
