Day 44 - Wed 02 May - Riverton
It was off to Invercargill today to AMI to sort out the ring repair. No problem except the ring needed to be cut off! We found a jeweller who did that for us at no charge so that was nice. AMI will organise the assessment and repair and we have asked for the ring to be sent to the Thames branch when fixed. We'll collect it from there when we get home again.
We went out to visit Cheryl and Noel later that afternoon. My word - it's been 6 years since we were there. It was so nice to see them again. Tomorrow we'll call into Lochiel on the way to Gore and visit Virginia and Trevor. We're lucky people are home - missed a few on our last trip.
Day 45 - Thu 03 May - Riverton to Gore
We travelled via Winton where we found someone had parked over the dump station. Eventually Bruce located the owner at a local café (who muttered as he came to shift his ute and trailer: "It's only used a couple of times a week").After lunch he went out to Lochiel to visit Virginia and Trevor - it was great to catch up with them. They had been away on holiday last time we were down here. It was getting dark by the time we got to Gore and we arrived at the Showgrounds to find rugby on and the place packed with vehicles! We eventually found a good spot to park up and the place was quiet after the sports had finished. Apparently these were all the Saturday games being brought forward as it is duck shooting opening this weekend… Only in Southland.
