A Picarana to Santiago de Compostela
At 1.45 this afternoon, I walked into the square in front of Santiago's historic Cathedral at the end of my Camino. I shed a few tears.
The little group which had formed yesterday continued on the final 16 kilometres into Santiago, where all the Caminos have ended for centuries. We met up again with Ron and Blanca from Calgary for the final 5kms, which was perfect symmetry as we had met them on day one out of Lisbon in the first 5kms of our epic journey.
Margita is the most courageous woman I have ever met for many reasons. She has been struggling through the pain barrier for many days now and she is awesome! We will always be special Camino amigos through these two shared experiences of walking the Camino Frances and the Camino Portuguese.
Unlike last year, when I carried on for four more days to the Atlantic coast, this time,Santiago is the end of the road and I feel a sense of achievement and relief.
I know now that every ending is a beginning. This is the end of my Camino journeys for a while and the end of my gap year of travel and adventure.
I do do not yet know what new beginnings will occur or I will make happen in the years ahead. But for now, this feels good, very good......

We've managed to keep up with your blog periodically and enjoyed reading all your thoughts, trails and enjoyment.
