India and Nepal 2022
Santiago de Compostela to Negreira After a pleasant rest day and sadly saying farewell to Alan and Sherry and to Jim and Dave who have all been great companions, it is time to join the Camino again. This morning before setting off, I bumped into a 12 year old English boy who had just walked the Camino with his Mum -unbelievable! The final leg of my journey across Spain is 90 kms and is certainly not a stroll as there are some steep gradients and hilly sections to get over. Some of the steepest climbs since the Pyrenees present a lunchtime physical challenge but what goes up has to come down eventually! We saw herons on the banks of the swollen rivers. It is very green here and is an area which gets a lot of rain. Fortunately, the rain has held off today and I am hoping that tomorrow will be the same as it is the longest day of the entire Camino, 33kms. The way markers are not quite as reliable as the main Camino and for the first time In six weeks, we lost the path. Two drivers pulled alongside to redirect us and get us back on our way again and on the road to Fisterra on the Atlantic Coast.
