India and Nepal 2022
Trabadelo to O'Cebreiro This has been a fantastic day! I set off at first light by myself to test out if my energy levels were restored after a difficult day yesterday. The combination of a good rest and a dose of Immodium seems to have done the trick! You get used to listening to what your body needs by way of relaxation and effort and I am becoming increasingly interested in the synergy between body and mind. After walking through some great mountain towns with rivers running through and the occasional blue heron flying overhead, it was time to climb up the 'big hill'. It's the steepest gradient since the Pyrenees but the views are spectacular looking out over the Valcarce valley. Uphill further through mountain hill farming areas where it must be a harsh existence in winter with cattle and sheep to look after. One farmer rides his horse bareback up the rocky path which leads eventually to the summit. I stop a while to gaze over the mountains and valley below and look down on the distance I have travelled today on foot. I feel metaphorically 'on top of the world'. And finally, just when you think it can't get any better, the little hamlet of O'Cebreiro appears shrouded in mist with the church which pilgrims have been visiting since the 9th century offering a glimpse into the significance of this place. To cap off the day, whilst sitting in the bar having a well earned beer with Margita, a shout rings out that it is snowing outside. A strong flurry of snowflakes settle in the courtyard of this idyllic setting. Today is a special day on the Camino.

Kate You are within sight of the finish - the nearer it gets the longer you want to stay on the journey x
Phil & Jayne Your looking good Rich, fit and lean and ready to carry on, in fact carry on snowing" ooh matron"! Good luck with tomorrow.
Peter Gray Richard, you're an inspiration, by which I mean that Jane and me are talking about taking to a similar trail in Spain. The lure of relatively comfortable nights, in contrast to camping alongside our UK national trails, is an added attraction. It's great watching your progress through a variety of scenes and weather conditions, with time to reflect as you go. As a walking friend says, "Keep goin!".
