Ferrol to Pontedeume
The first day of my Camino Ingles has been very enjoyable and it's great to be looking out for scallop shell waymarkers and yellow arrows once more!
Its also been a long tiring day in hot temperatures including a bit of a steep climb towards the end of the 27 Kms route.
Within one minute of my 08.40 departure I had linked up with a group of four Australian walkers and we spent most of the day together which was ideal as I am here on my own.
The Camino hogs the coastline of the Ria de Ferrol and affords good views for much of the day. Eucalyptus forest and small villages also make up today's experience.
Just after 4pm I said goodbye to Peter, Rosalyn, Suzy and Mandy but I am sure our paths will cross again before Santiago, probably tomorrow!
As I began the final two hours on my own, I instinctively looked around for Margita but she wasn't there. She is a very special and dear friend and we walked across Spain and much of Portugal together and at that moment I missed her companionship very much.
I put put on some music (Monsters and Men) to accompany me as I tired through the final 8kms into the lovely coastal town of Pontedeume.
