Calzadilla to Moratinos Yesterday was a surreal and emotionally intense day on the Meseta. Last night, three of my Camino companions went down with a sudden illness, probably food poisoning and I feel so lucky to have avoided it and hope I haven't spoken too soon! Alan in particular was very ill and we were all concerned about him. He and Sherry have wisely decided to get transport to the next town of Sahagun and then Leon to regroup and make contingency plans. The Camino can be a bit obsessive at times and for my part, I am keen to walk every inch of the way. I went outside this morning to watch the sunrise over the big skies and fields of the Meseta to gather my thoughts. At times, it is a mystical place with a silence which is hard to come by in a fast moving modern world. It can also play with your head after several days continual walking here and I am so pleased not to be by myself as there are relatively few peregrinos here now. The Camino throws people together from across continents, backgrounds and lifestyles and I am continuing my journey today with Margita.
