O'Cebreiro to Triacastela O'Cebreiro is my favourite place so far on the Camino. This morning, enveloped in mist and with snow on roof tops, it provided an atmosphere of history, mystery and charm. The church dates back to the 9th century and has hosted pilgrims since that time and you really feel the religious significance of this place. After a 'winter wonderland' walk through the snow covered forest, it was out on to the mountain roads and pathways. A statue depicting a traveller from a bygone age dominates the bend of the road and the crest of the hill - very evocative as it looked out over the misty hills beyond. As the sun broke through, small pockets of mist remained lower down the valley in a surreal display of colour and texture on the landscape. Then a little rain, more mist, a breakthrough of sun and the cycle repeats itself. As I walked over these mountains today, I appreciated more fully the devotion and endeavour of pilgrims throughout the centuries. I am not a follower of a particular religion or faith, but you cannot help but be hugely respectful of the importance of the Camino as a religious pilgrimage.
