Palas de Rei to Rabadiso Some people describe the Camino as a life changing spiritual journey. For me, as I near the end of my own personal Camino, the phrase 'life affirming' has more resonance. Walking for six hours or so each day for over five weeks across Spain with just a rucksack, gives you time to think what connects me to the pilgrims who undertook this journey a thousand years ago. Spiritually, this journey has reinforced my understanding of the eternal truths about human life and what really matters. I have narrowed it down to just two aspects; love and meaning. 'Love' in the broadest sense of the term comprising the fullest range of relationships with others and also a love for the natural world around me. 'Meaning' is about what gives my life a purpose and how I adapt through the different phases of my life; what I embrace and what I contribute while I am alive on this earth. Today's walk was pleasant through six river valleys, accompanied by sunshine and heavy showers. The big town half way was Melide which was bustling with Sunday market day visitors and where Margita, Dave, Jim and I dodged the rain in a local bar. The local delicacy is octopus and there are a number of restaurants including takeaways called 'pulperias' which serve this dish.
