Saturday morning we set off for a fairly big days drive on the rough road. Stopped at a river crossing for a walk along the bank. At one point we couldn't see what Ellie was playing with, she was stamping a foot and trying to get what ever it was to move, then she barked at it which is unusual. So I had a closer look, it was a thin black snake about 60cms long, boy did move fast when I dropped a stick on it to see if I'd get a reaction.
Then drove into a quarry and stopped for lunch.
A bit further along there were signs along the road that there were hot scones at Ellenbrae Station only about 5kms off the road. Their marketing along the road was so good we had to go on. It was an interesting place and the scones were delicious. They have a shower built into the side of a big old Boab tree, with the other highlight being the toilet was disgusting but with a great view.
Then on to Home Valley Station for the night, a real oasis the first green lawn camping for a long time. It's a really good place to stay. Once again owned by Aboriginals but not one to be sighted all the workers are white. A fairly noisy camp well into the night.
We were up early this morning to drive a bit over 100kms to church in Kununurra. Our first river crossing this morning and probably the biggest of all the trip was the Pentacost. Apparently it's tidal and you can't get across on a tide over 8 metres, we didn't have a problem.
Went to the Anglican church they had a good crowd. It was interesting when they asked any visitors to raise their hand at least two thirds were visitors.
We received an invite to tour the HCJB Australia facility at 3pm. From here they broadcast the good news of Jesus on HF radio throughout India and Asia 12 hours a day every day. Does anyone have a HF radio? Apparently a factory in China manufactures 36,000 a day, there are lots. They use a 100 kilowatt transmitter and their monthly power bill is $12,000. It's a big thing on a lot of land that's been donated to them. They have a 10 caravan park for volunteers and are always looking for volunteers, you can help for a month or longer.
Went to the Peoples Church tonight, a different group doing a bible study, we enjoyed.
We have booked into the Lakeside Caravan park, it is magnificent. We are thoroughly enjoying getting away from the Gibb River road dust, it has really affected my sinuses.
