Packed up this morning and continued our drive along the road that was following the Fitzroy river. Came to the Fitzroy weir where there were a number of campers and fishermen. Watched a bloke with a lure reel in one after another, different fish that looked about 30cms, he was throwing them back. I had a go and after a while used a lure with some success, a couple of Barra around 30cms and one around 40 but nothing of size. They were also getting good size Cheribun with a crab net.
It was pretty busy so we drove around the river a bit further and stopped for lunch and a walk. On the way out of this track there was an Aboriginals car pulled up on the track , I tooted my horn and an older lady with a baby came wandering out and said her husband had gone for a walk and he had the keys. So we had a walk and found we could pick our way through the bush and drive around her.
Then drove on a long way and through a gate to Noonkanbah Aboriginal community, just drove through then on the way out stopped where some white blokes were working. They were able to confirm the road to Fitzroy Crossing is closed, you can't cross the river so we went up the road to Ellendale about 75kms to the highway. We are camped in the rest area with a lot of other vans, a very busy spot but ok for free.
On our travels today we saw lots of cattle, some horses, a wild cat and Rose saw 3 goannas.
