Headed for the Principality of Hutt River fairly early in the morning getting there a bit after eight. An unspectacular entrance. We were having a bit of a look around when Prince Leonard came wandering out to meet us. He showed us through the Post Office and council offices, its an amazing story of what he has done. I checked out the principalities church, it appears christian although we learn the Prince has some different theology. Surprisingly there was only one camper at his park.
We then headed for Kalbarri, a very beautiful town on the mouth of the Murchison River a very big river. We went for a walk out the jetty where there were a number of fishing boats unloading mostly snapper. Rose bought a reasonable size one for $10. Cleaned the fish and had a good look around before moving on.
We stopped for afternoon coffee at a fantastic camp on the river about 80kms inland, a really nice spot.
We went on another 50kms or so to another camp on the side of the highway, quite a nice spot in the bush with a toilet. Ended up with about 20 other campers of all sorts in there with us. Had the fish marinated and steamed in silver foil for dinner, noice.
Another 200 odd kms to Denham where we booked into a caravan park and had a shower. Spent the day looking around. Went to Monkey Mia and had a look, it's a great set up.
Barbecued steak and veg on a BBQ on the edge of a lake. Then had to drive on the sand around the lake in the dark to get out, it was a bit tricky picking the right sand track out, almost had to let the tyres down to get out. A good day.
