Went for a walk this morning in Karlkurla Bushland Park, about 3kms was pretty good, Rose was able to learn the names of some of the trees.
We then headed off aiming to go down to Esperence via Coolgardie however we found Coolgardie that interesting we spent most of the day here. Had a barbeque in the park for lunch then went through the museum ($4.50 each) it was a great time of learning about their life in the 1890's. One thing that fascinated me was that they produced drinking water from salt water using condensors, pretty much a desalinating plant. From one of them they could produce 450,000 litres a day from 540,000 litres of salt water using 100 tonnes of wood.
We were really impressed with the quality of the buildings still standing. Went out and had a look at the cemetery and saw Ernest Giles grave, fascinating for us as my Grand Father was an Ernest Giles. Saw some old Afghan graves also pretty sad the number of young men that died in their 20's. There is a story of a bloke on a camel travelling 600 miles without water, we'd find that a bit tough going today.
Eventually we carried on to Norseman, then decided we would go up to the look out and stay the night, so we have fantastic 360 degree views all round from our home tonight. Looks like we may have a few disturbances with others coming up for a look.
A great day although we will be pleased to get out of the desert country for a while.
