We spent Sunday and Monday nights on the beautiful water at the Lakeside Caravan Park in Kununurra, we were ready for it after the Gibb River Road.
Had a big clean up on Monday after all the dust we had been through.
Tuesday we went out the road to a Sandalwood factory, they are growing a lot of it in the area. It didn't smell like we imagined it would.
Then bought a watermelon and a couple of Paw Paw very cheaply along the road.
Stopped at a rock art place, what they do with the Zebra rock is very impressive.
Went for a drive down a track and made our way down onto the Ord River on a dry part then I once again made an error of judgement when trying to turn around and we ground to a halt. Once again had to let the tyres down and 10 minutes of Rose shoveling and we were away again.
Stayed at the Hidden Valley caravan park in Kununurra last night, it was pretty good and only $24.
This morning a little bit of shopping and headed off to Wyndham. Stopped at the Halls Creek turn off for coffee then went on to what they call The Grotto. It's only a couple of k's off the road and is like a canyon. We walked down into it and at the bottom there is a pool. There were two Monitors sunbathing on the rocks. You could see fish in the water and several eagle like birds were diving down and trying to get the fish with their claws. At one spot there was water dripping through moss, it looked and sounded quite magical.
Then on to Wyndham, we drove through to the wharf part of town and you can't get very close due to the industry. Had lunch at the boat ramp, we're finding it pretty hot now.
Drove around a bit, went to the museum and had a walk down the street. Then booked into the Wyndham Caravan Park $20, it's okay but pretty unloved.
Planning on heading back towards Kununurra via the Parry Creek road tomorrow.
